TalkPad AAC — Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 20, 2026
Overview
TalkPad is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app designed for children with speech difficulties. Your privacy — and especially the privacy of your child — is our top priority.
The short version: TalkPad does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Information We Collect
We collect nothing. Specifically:
- No accounts required — TalkPad does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in.
- No personal information collected — We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal information.
- No usage data transmitted — Communication history, card usage, progress data, and analytics are stored locally on your device and are never sent to us or any third party.
- No photos transmitted — Custom photos you add to cards are stored locally on your device only.
- No analytics or tracking — We do not use any third-party analytics services, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools.
- No cookies — TalkPad does not use cookies.
Data Stored on Your Device
TalkPad stores the following data locally on your device to provide its features:
- Child's first name (if entered during setup) — used only to personalize the Progress screen
- Communication history — a log of card taps used to generate progress reports
- Custom photos — photos you select from your photo library to replace card images
- Custom cards — cards you create within the app
- Settings preferences — voice selection, grid size, PIN, and display preferences
- Schedule data — visual schedule items you create
- Saved phrases — phrases you save in the keyboard screen
All of this data is stored using your device's local storage. It is never transmitted over the internet. You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app from your device.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
TalkPad is designed for use by children, including children under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- We do not collect any personal information from children.
- We do not require any online interaction to use the app.
- We do not contain advertising of any kind.
- We do not contain links to external websites or apps.
- We do not include social media integration.
- We do not enable children to make purchases within the app.
Parents maintain full control over the app through PIN-protected settings.
Third-Party Services
TalkPad does not use any third-party services that collect data. Specifically:
- No advertising networks
- No analytics platforms
- No social media SDKs
- No crash reporting services that transmit data
The app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine (Apple's AVSpeechSynthesizer) to generate speech. This processing happens entirely on your device.
Sharing Progress Reports
TalkPad includes a feature to share communication progress reports. When you use this feature:
- The report is generated locally on your device
- You choose how and with whom to share it using your device's native share sheet (e.g., Messages, Email, AirDrop)
- We have no access to reports you share or knowledge of whether you share them
Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including:
- Device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID
- Device encryption
- TalkPad's own PIN protection for parent settings
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the updated version here with a new "Last Updated" date. We will not change our data practices to begin collecting data without prominently notifying users.

TalkPad is made by a parent, for parents. We will never monetize your child's data.
